Deschutes Research, Inc. was formed in 1996 by Herb Severson, Ph.D. DRI's mission is to provide the opportunity for research scientists and research staff to create public health enhancement products that are scientifically-proven to be effective in changing health behaviors. The company began with a focus on tobacco prevention and cessation. This was a natural starting point due to Dr. Severson's long history of being an investigator on NIH-funded grants in this area.
