Title

David Worby: Composer, Screenwriter, Playwright, Author, TV and Radio Personality, Trial Attorney

Description

David Worby was raised in Rockland County, New York, in a working-class family with a clear sense of the important things in life … “we always found money for music lessons … and to welcome a Fresh Air Fund child into our home every summer.” After her children were grown, David’s mother, Diana Zacharia Worby, went back to school, got a Ph. D, and is now a professor of English Literature. David’s sister, Maestra Rachael Worby, is a critically acclaimed conductor and Music Director of the Pasadena Pops Symphony, and his brother, Joshua, is the Executive Director of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra. David’s passion is writing. He is an avid composer, screenwriter, playwright, author and poet as well as a television commentator, radio show personality and a nationally recognized trial attorney. “Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be Clarence Darrow. I was always a great talker ... my friends automatically expected me to talk us into things … into sold out shows or backstage. Of course, they also expected me to talk us out of things…” Having earned degrees, with highest honors, from Cornell and Villanova, David Worby became a trial lawyer “because I really enjoyed using one’s verbal ability combined with brains to create a result.” He applies that ability to everything he does from winning some of the biggest trials in the history of Westchester and Putnam Counties, to writing a screenplay that will star Ice-T and Snoop Dogg, to writing and recording songs in styles that range from Classical to Soul to a Radiohead-type rock tune. Worby leads an extraordinarily full life. When he is not appearing on television as a commentator or in conjunction with being named as lead counsel for the 9/11 Class Action Lawsuit filed on behalf of the thousands of rescue and recovery workers, he is hosting fundraisers with Glenn Close, Uma Thurman and Alec Baldwin at his home. When he is not completing a book of poems, he is chairing a political campaign, or developing a segment for a radio show. “To know the meaning of Renaissance Man is to know David Worby ... he is a composer, screenwriter, poet, and crusader for victim’s rights” said reporter Zinta Lundborg in a recent interview. In one of his endeavors, Worby is collaborating with Cindy Beer-Fouhy, of the NWCA Literary Arts Department, on his series of children's books. "I'm developing a series of about 10 books that can be turned into after-school Disney-type movies," Mr. Worby said. "Each book has as it’s main theme a child protagonist with a learning disability. They learn about it, we learn about it and they learn to overcome it or compensate or redeem themselves in whatever, during the course of the story." Worby’s left side brain and right side brain are in a fierce competition, both sides are claiming victory.
