- Magnification is, in itself, actually quite straight forward, you take something that is too small to see and make it appear larger so that you can see it. Although magnifying glasses have been around for hundreds of years they are limited in the amount of magnification provided and can also be quite difficult to use, especially by elderly people. More recently, there have been a number of cumbersome and expensive "machines" for magnifying text in books or newspapers but their extraordinary high prices and sheer physical size limit their usefulness for most people.
