"Can You Survive the Horror?" (CYStH) is an online text-based Roleplaying System inspired by the Resident Evil Video Game series (which is copyrighted by Capcom).
History
The original idea for CYStH came from another source. In its original format, it consisted of three short Text Files (Game Basics, Weapons & Items, Enemies) and an E-Mail Application, with no official name. After its original creator abandoned the idea, it was taken over by one of his senior members (the now-registered owner). This is recognized as being 28 August 2000, though 15 June 2000 is recognized as the date that this senior member joined and referred to as the System's Creation Day (Roleplaying had been going on using the original format for about a month at that point, run by the person who first came up with the idea).
On 8 December 2001, "Can You Survive the Horror?" was given its first official website, and this marks the first time it was actually called a Roleplaying system versus a mere idea played by a small circle of people. Originally hosted on a paid Angelfire account (and later given this Domain Name as well), "Can You Survive the Horror?" maintained that website until June 2005 when financial issues arose with the now-registered owner. While Angelfire still hosts the older website, it is plagued by advertisements.
In May of 2006, the copyrighted owner repurchased the Domain Name and new hosting services with StartLogic and re-launched the Website. It has been (and still is at the time of this writing) under serious construction since then.
