About Us
Cuddle A K9 is a brand new organization, we have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Our organization is headed by 2 dog lovin' ladies, who have a strong passion for the protection and the life of our four pawed friends. The majority of the dogs we rescue come from local animal shelters, that are so overcrowded the dogs are euthanized in a very short period of time. We do rescue mostly moms and their pups from these shelter situations. These families are most at risk for euthanasia because one cannot just adopt one puppy, you have to take the family as a whole, this makes it nearly impossible for any of these little guys to get adopted. After 4 days or so in the shelter the entire family is destroyed, puppies and all. These are pups who have never even had a chance at life, and deserve the right to know what it is like to be loved, and to grow up with a family that will take care of them and give them the life they deserve. Although it is terrible to think about any dog being needlessly put down due to lack of room it’s especially hard to think about a new life that hasn’t even had the chance to live.
All of the dogs we rescue are placed into foster homes where they are loved and nurtured until they are ready to be adopted. This also gives us the opportunity to really get to know the dog and evaluate their temperament and personality. This allows us to adequately assess them and place them with the best suited family for their particular needs. Anyone wishing to adopt a dog must fill out an adoption application, and must be willing to have a home check. These dogs have had a hard enough life and we want to make sure that this home is their final stop. We don’t want a dog going back into a shelter situation that they have just been rescued from, so we are very careful about placement especially of the puppies. Puppies are cute and cuddly and everyone seems to want one, but pups grow up. As adults they need and deserve the same love and care they receive as puppies. Puppies can also be destructive with chewing, and can get into all sorts of trouble. They are also a source of unconditional love and constant companionship. We just ask that you think carefully before choosing to adopt a puppy and prepare yourself for all the crazy things puppies do, we also highly recommend training your new puppy. This will make the relationship between owner and puppy a much happier one. If you’re not quite sure you’re ready for this, we strongly recommend adopting one of our more mature dogs, who are likely to have calmed down.
