It could be out of a desire to share common interests, or a need to ease a lonely heart. For others, a match could be the missing link to an adventure that awaits. Whenever people advertised themselves, it is with the hope that it will be matched with someone new, exciting and extraordinary.
Generations later, people are still at it, posting "personals" on the worldwide web, or sending them via SMS (the short message service on your cellular phone if you haven't discovered it yet).
We also took it a step further by enabling people not only to create profiles but also to get alerted on their matches, and to actually start chatting -- all completely mobile, via text messaging (we got to go downstairs for a smoke right? But seriously while we are all big fans of the Net, we've got VERY REAL LIVES away from our PCs!)
