Humor, Culture, and Inspiration

Based in America’s hometown, Columbia Missouri, Criz is casting a wide shadow (diet needed) these days over the entire internet. In fact over celebrated history of CrizCult three visitors have actually visited the sight, although it appears that two of those visitors were bots and the other was actually just someone who mistyped a URL.

Criz started his career in mass media at the tender age of sixteen when he, along with his good pal Phil, started the influential “Woof Your Cookies” comic book, a comic book that had a “very successful” five or six issue run. Unfortunately since the comic book made no money and since his academic prospects were dismal Criz joined the U.S Navy, serving in the submarine service for six years.

The military experience was important for Criz as the unlit bulb over his empty head finally started to illuminate. Most importantly he learned the skills and disciplines that he would later need to succeed in life, skills like driving a submarine and blowing things up. He also gained the nickname Criz, a truncation of the first syllable in his last name. Upon successfully completing his military service Criz attended the prestigious Missouri State University, where he studied business and technology.

During college Criz embraced the traditional faith of his family, Christianity, and has been active in church ever since. After moving to Columbia Missouri he was asked to temporarily fill the role of campus pastor at the University of Missouri. This led to a severe “fish out of water” experience and he learned that the word temporary, when speaking in context of the age of the church, is much longer than you might think. After two years a full time campus pastor was found (thank God (literally))) to replace Criz. However, still wanting to be active in ministry he started to play guitar (both electric and bass (not at the same time)) in the ministries worship band.

Because of his love of technology, Criz did a short stint as a technology columnist for a small market news paper, a run that gave him an appreciation for the influence of the mass media. Simultaneously he taught, and continues to teach, college classes that have been very well reviewed as “helping to make technology concepts understandable and entertaining”.

Much to his surprise Criz was recently accepted into a PhD. Program at the University of Missouri; a fact that other potential graduate students might interpret as reducing the prestigious nature of the school.

All of these different influences have had a strange effect on Criz who often doesn’t know who he is or what he is doing. Is he a computer nerd; a college professor; an artist; a pastor; a musician; a master of media; a black belt in taekwondo (forgot to mention that); or is he the leader of a new cult that aims for world domination? Only time will tell which one of these vying influences eventually wins out. (Hopefully it won’t be the music one because there isn’t enough talent there to make a living).

Like Criz, the content on CrizCult will be complex including an odd mix of topics and stories that are humorous (to Criz at least), serious, and sometimes even inspirational.

Please enjoy the strange world that is CrizCult.
