Michigan’s unapologetic king of bulk e-mail is in trouble again. This time, an FBI raid has closed what some consider one of the world’s largest houses of spam.
Cisco Systems Inc., the company that makes the Internet routers that process a majority of Web and e-mail traffic, said today that hackers had compromised an untold number of usernames and passwords need to gain access to the customer login page at Cisco.com.
After the announcement earlier this month about the digital break-in at CardSystems’ network and the statement that they would not notify customers unless the accounts are actually abused, a law suit has been filed in California that would force the company to contact all client whose accounts where accessed.
