Craig Air (or Craig for short) has had a long and interesting evolution leading to the launch of scheduled passenger service in Tofino/Ucluelet. The airline is in its 17th year of operations. Established in 1988 by Craig Schnell under the name of La Loche Airways, based in La Loche Saskatchewan, the carrier provided air charter, medevac and scheduled flight services to communities in the north.
After having flown in the Tofino/Ucluelet/Victoria communities over the past two summers in an air charter capacity, Craig decided to offer the luxuries of this service on a scheduled basis. Since making the decision to launch a scheduled flight service in BC, Craig has made investments in local representatives in each community, a secure electronic reservations system, flight operations and live aircraft tracking systems, and has forged relationships with the major lodges and other businesses in each of the communities served.
