CPU-Collector was opened in May of 2004. I have collected various CPUs and processors since 1996. In 2000, my collection had a little growth spurt. At that time, I could fit most of my CPUs in a glass covered shadow box and a wooden cigar box. Most CPU's have been purchased via eBay, various online sellers, friends, or other collectors. My collection growth slowed down during 2001 and 2002, but by the start of 2003 I started collecting again. Toward the end of 2003 I decided I needed to start a database of all my CPUs and take photos of each of them. That is when I decided to make this website. Photos were hand taken with an ultra compact Cannon S400 4.0 Mega pixel camera in wide angle macro mode using a 1024x768 resolution (can go up to 2272x1704 if needed). The highest resolution was too extreme for web photos and would require resizing. This camera is more of a point and shoot camera and has a small lens due to it's small size. The placement and lighting was done in a nonprofessional way using a white background and incandescent bulb. Taking pictures takes a lot of time, so I didn't spend a ton of time on it. Website construction was done in my own spare time during the month of December 2003. At the opening of this site, I had about 567 CPUs in my collection. I will add information to the database as I find it and get time. This website features my CPU collection, my trade list, interactive forums, links to other collector sites, and various links to other great resources.
