“Wes Francis has been in love with motorcycles since a child. When he was 9 years old, he got his first motorcycle, a Honda SL 70.
Wes first started road racing in 1987 with a Honda Hurricane and he continued to race in 1988 in the Championship Cup Series (CCS) in Florida and Georgia. However, at the end of 1988, Wes decided to go to trade school to be an aviation mechanic, so he sold his race motorcycle and pursued his education instead, but it was still a desire of his heart to race. I met Wes in 1990. He took me riding on the back of his street bike, a 1986 Suzuki GSXR-1100, with him through the streets of Orlando, FL, as one of our first dates. And the rest is history. We married in 1995. I had grown up in church and had accepted Jesus into my heart as a young child, but by the time I met Wes at age 19, God was not first place in my life. I had put God on a shelf. Wes was not saved at the time I met him and wasn’t saved when I married him. He knew little about God. At age 27, I finally came back to God and gave my life completely to Him through watching Pastor Creflo Dollar on television. One night, I was just flipping through the television channels and happened to come across Pastor Creflo Dollar on one of the channels. Later, I would occasionally watch him again on television, but would turn it off as soon as Wes would come into the room. When I got a little braver, I asked Wes to watch Pastor Creflo Dollar’s program on tv with me. He was polite about it and watched it because I asked him to and that was about it. But by then, I had started praying for Wes. I told God that I wanted Wes to be saved and come to know Him. I never preached to Wes and only occasionally talked about God to him.
Since the day I met him, Wes has talked about racing motorcycles. In 1999 and 2000, Wes started road racing again in the Western Eastern Racing Association (WERA) and I went with him to the races as his pit crew. It was in 2000 that Wes accepted Jesus into his heart through watching Kenneth Copeland and Creflo Dollar on television. We were both hungry for God and started listening to tapes and reading books by Kenneth Copeland and Creflo Dollar to learn more about God. We both started growing together in the Lord. In 2001, God started talking to Wes about racing at a much higher level than what we had been doing as a hobby. We started believing God and planting our offering seed for the race team that God had talked to Wes about. We started planning a racing business, one that would be used as a tool for God as an outreach to people in the racing community. We wrote out our vision for the race team according to Habbukuk 2:2, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” We held on to our dream of having a race team, even though we weren’t racing anywhere for over 3 years. We even picked out a name for our race team ahead of time, like you would pick out a name for a new baby before it was born. We named it “Covenant Racing”. We didn’t talk much about our vision to others to protect it in our hearts for those 3 years, but we were always talking about it amongst ourselves. We just kept believing in faith for the right time to go back racing, praying for divine connections, and kept preparing to start our race team. In November of 2003, God told Wes, “The work I began in you 5 years ago is about to start.” We looked back to 1998 and saw that it was then when we bought the race bike that he raced in 1999, the same one that he still had in the garage. It was also when I gave my life back to the Lord. It was time to go racing in 2004!”
