The Sibling Connection
Description
My name is Pleasant Gill White and I am the author of these pages. I live in the state of Missouri in the United States. I am a counselor (psychotherapist) in private practice and have an office in Chesterfield. My professional specialities are working with individuals who have experienced an early loss or the loss of a sibling at any age. I assist people who have problems with depression or anxiety in resolving the loss and understanding how it impacted their lives.
I began my study of sibling loss firsthand when I was 15 years old and my 13 year old sister died of a rare kind of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma (this type of cancer usually attacks young children). At the time of her death, little was known about the effects of sibling loss, but we now know that bereaved siblings often feel as if they have lost a part of themselves. In my practice, I help individuals resolve their loss and recover the lost self.
I have spent many years of my life traveling in and living in different countries (Morocco, Jamaica, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, England, Puerto Rico, Greece, Germany, the United States, and more...). I have learned that people are pretty much the same no matter where you live.
