In September 2002, Coombe Girls School gained Language College status. An already vibrant modern languages department of 14 staff and 3 foreign language assistants has seen a full refurbishment of the suite of Language classrooms fully equipped with interactive whiteboards and a multimedia language lab. The department has helped the school develop links with the community through work with Malden Oaks and Mecklenburg Pupil referral units in the borough.
