About Us
The church here at Coney Hill is not the building but a collection of people of all ages and backgrounds, united by the common knowledge that God exists and that he can be known personally. We, along with all other Christian churches, believe that God has shown himself to us by sending his son, Jesus Christ. This is good news and we want to share it, a very basic outline of this central Christian message can be found here.
However be assured that we are not in the business of "hard selling". You will always find someone ready to explain what it is we believe or share with you what being a Christian means to them. However, if you only wish to find out what going to Church here is all about then we will gladly welcome you among us.
As a Baptist Church you may be interested to know that we are organised and financed entirely by ourselves. The Minister and the Deacons are elected by the members but the leaders themselves don't run the church, nor is there anybody outside who has any role in our affairs. Rather we believe that God guides us as we seek to work together as his people - the whole church. All the members of the church therefore share the responsibility of guiding the work here. Membership is open to all who have committed themselves to Jesus Christ and his Church.
