Title

Computer Clubhouse

Description

The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment where young people from underserved communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. Using the "original" Clubhouse as a model, the Computer Clubhouse Network supports community-based Clubhouses around the world, providing thousands of youth with access to resources, skills, and experiences to help them succeed in their careers, contribute to their communities, and lead outstanding lives.

The Computer Clubhouse was founded in 1993 by The Computer Museum (now part of the Museum of Science) in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab. The Clubhouse is there for its members - youth ages 10 to 18 from different communities in Boston and other underserved neighborhoods. Members work closely with adult mentors: students and professionals in fields such as art, science, education or technology who share their experience and serve as role models.

We are deeply indebted to our sponsors and contributors, who support the Computer Clubhouse by providing equipment, resources, and financial support. For more information on making a tax-deductible contribution, contact the Clubhouse Director, Gail Breslow.
