edit Priorities for Bug fixing
edit User to User email no longer working through wiki
I have enabled all options under the Email tab form my preferences and i have a valid account. Yet the system says 'This user has not specified a valid user name or has chosen not to receive emails from users. when someone tries to email me from the wiki. On further investigation it turns out that this option is reversed! Those who have enabled email get that warning, yet those who haven't can be emailed! --Sa'ad [ talk•email•chat ] 00:47, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
edit Editing Daily Buzz = Proxy error
Editing DailyBuzz produces a proxy error, and if you see your edit isn't there at first but returning to the page after a while shows the edit in place. Something is keeping the edit too long before it goes through. Same thing when editing AboutUs.org page --Saad Saeed 08:57, 30 May 2008 (PDT)

edit No template on PersonalPage and no welcome on TalkPage:
For some reason it appears that a certain percentage of new people that create accounts don't end up with a talk page auto welcome, and this often goes hand in hand with them not getting an auto personal page as well.

edit Extraneous information from dmoz.org
I just had AboutUsBot create ConsumersChoice.ca, and it added a description from dmoz.org. ConsumersChoice.ca is not listed in dmoz.org, and the description picked up was from http://www.billcolgate.com/ , listed at "Colgate, Bill - Roots rock singer-songwriter. Biography, album information, songs in development and news" on http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Bands_and_Artists/C/ This wasn't casued by AboutUsBot trying to get two dmoz.org descriptions at the same time, because the AboutUs page for BillColgate.com already existed at the time the ConsumersChoice.ca page was created. Something strange is happening. --Iapetus 08:16, 29 July 2008 (PDT)
- Hmm. That is odd. Have you fixed the text? Let us know if you see anything like this again. Honestly, fixing the bot is a low priority for us right now. Our intention is to replace the bot entirely, with a new bot. I'm not sure when we'll get to that, but I'm thinking that replacement will be more important than fixing, when we get to it. I apologize for the error, and am glad that you're able to fix it up yourself! TedErnst (talk) 09:44, 31 July 2008 (PDT)
edit thoughts
- center the layout for folks with larger monitors?
- this will probably happen soon, but is not a priority. --Vinh Nguyen
- Having "related changes" and "what links here" at the very top left of a domain page seems quite odd to me. And it seems logical that all of these (especially "move" should be together with "article", "edit" and "history"). Kristina .talk. .chat. 22:00, 17 March 2008 (PDT)
- unfortunately move refers to the page while the edit, history, article commands refer to the wiki portion of a page. Now, for non-domain pages this makes sense, as the whole page is a wiki, but for domain pages this isn't the case as there will be distinct sections other than wiki. --Vinh Nguyen
- I agree with you Vinh, but the problem still persists, related changes and what links here are in illogical places, and would fit better in more links section on left. ~~ MarkDilley 21:29, 23 April 2008 (PDT)

- I think it would make sense for the first three links at the top left to be home, then help and contact. Kristina .talk. .chat. 22:09, 17 March 2008 (PDT)
- contact us has been demoted to an even lower position on the page, and the purpose of random page and rc is to push users into traversing the site by giving them large jumping-off points. --Vinh Nguyen

- Skins on Edit and History pages -- Not sure if this is possible, but pages that have a specific skin (FloorMall.com, SpiderGourmet.com for example), don't show the skin in Edit/Preview mode or on the history page. On the history page, I'm not sure it matters, but I think it might be confusing for people to see the skin and then not while editing/previewing the page. Not sure this is an easy fix, if it's not, then we should discuss whether it's needed or not. -- TakKendrick | talk

- Currently online:' I think having this back (if it isn't a hard fix) would really help the look of the homepage, particularly from a sales point of view since we're showing them the spotlighted articles section a lot. Kristina .talk. .chat. 19:50, 27 March 2008 (PDT)
edit ConnectUs
- WikiWear.org doesn't show the claim just made, kind of confusing. ~~ MarkDilley 14:54, 17 March 2008 (PDT)
- Publishing a Claim seems to happen a little too fast. Ted & I made one to Aol.com; I hit 'return' and it was published, no preview mode or chance to edit or delete. Luckily there were no tyops. Kasey 14:22, 14 March 2008 (PDT)
edit UberPatrol Functionality
- Fixname functionality does not work in UberPatrol like it used to in the past revision. Fix name now takes you to a new page where you can click to complete the fix, rather than fixing it through uber itself. --Sa'ad talk•email•chat 05:39, 14 April 2008 (PDT)
edit WatchList bugs
-
Lately i have been receiving very few watchlist alerts. This page CompostUsBugs is on my watchlist and i primarily use my email to patrol my watchlist. There are changes made to this page but i have not received a notification of it nor does it appear to be listed in My Watchlist. - I am having the opposite problem. I have never received email notifications for my watchlist and this past week I started receiving tons of emails even though all the email boxes are unchecked in my preferences. ? - Template:LargeCategoryTOC does not work the way categories are currently implimented in CompostUs. This may be okay if categories are being re-thought anyway. Is there a page for this, where I can participate? TedErnst (talk) 07:28, 17 March 2008 (PDT)
- I just tried the "scrub" function leaving checked on "history" and it simply told me that "no changes were made to the page". We need this feature. :-) TedErnst (talk) 08:37, 17 March 2008 (PDT)
- We don't seem to have the ability to patrol new page creations in Special:RecentChanges. Kristina .talk. .chat. 22:03, 19 March 2008 (PDT)
edit For later?
- Double-clicking to the edit the page (part of a user preference setting) is broken. I'm probably the only person in the world who uses this, but I do use it like extensively. It's also might be related to something else, since double click to edit relies on Javascript to work correctly. -- TakKendrick | talk

edit Editing in Opera
Editing pages using Opera has, as of last Thursday or Friday, given the following problems:
- Show Preview doesn't work
- Clicking on Save Page doesn't seem to do anything, and one doesn't leave the edit box but refreshing the page shows that it has been updated.
- FatimaRaja 14:44, 1 October 2007 (PDT)

edit Domain pages not created by bot
carhirejersey.com Fourspeedlab.com 11:38, 29 November 2007 (PST)
- I tried opening the sites; they took a long time to respond, the first one gave the message "Server not found" and the other one failed to load. This suggests that the page was not created because the bot timed out when it tried to scrape the page for Fourspeedlab, and couldn't find the server for carhirejersey.
- But still, the bot does sometimes fail to create pages. We need to look into it. Umar Sheikh

edit Problem with "What Links Here"
It seems that the "What Links Here" is missing a few links. An example case is given below: There is a link of ActiveFind.net on FaceParty.com. But this does not show up in the "What Links Here" of ActiveFind.net.
- There is a known issue with this function and case. You'll noice that on FaceParty.com the link is actually for Activefind.net, which has a different capitalization. I don't expect this will get fixed in the short-term. The fix is complicated, and not sure to work, so we just get used to this broken function. TedErnst (talk) 23:22, 25 November 2007 (PST)

edit Google Maps extension and captions
There seems to be a recent bug that happened that's causing "captions" to not show up correctly on maps added to pages using the Google Maps Extension. Generally, if you click on a "pin prick" on a map like on E-TechSiliconValley.com#Locations/Contact, there should be a bubble that comes up with caption information (which I have entered). The captions show up fine in "Preview" mode, but then when the page is saved, they do not.- Strangely enough, this works correctly on intersected maps, like those found in the PortlandTech portal (see image).
- I know the captions worked in early Dec. when I built the BasketAndFloral.com page, so I'm not sure what's broken since then.

edit Problem with Safari
Reported this a while ago -- still seeing the problem. I'd characterize this as a pretty significant "lack of polish" when viewed in Safari, probably worthy of prompt attention... There's an extra pair of scroll bars on the main frame of AboutUs pages when using Safari browser. I think it results from the content in the frame being just a tiny bit larger than the frame size itself. I don't see the problem in Firefox. -Pete 16:41, 3 March 2008 (PST)
- Hi Pete. I can confirm this bug. I see it in Safari as well. And, we have a fairly significant backend and skin change coming up in the next two or three weeks. Let me know if you would like to test the alpha version. It's not quite ready for the whole community to bang on it, but you're happy to try it, if you'd like. Because of this big change, I don't see us fixing the Safari bug you're seeing before the change-over. peace, TedErnst (talk) 09:05, 4 March 2008 (PST)
edit No Javascript in Safari
Don't know if this was a problem before I upgraded to the latest Safari -- Version 3.1 (5525.13) -- this week or not, but I can't get the javascript stuff ("site navigation," address intersect maps, etc) to work on AboutUs in Safari. I've made sure that my javascript is turned on, and it works on other sites, including "test" site like http://liblearn.osu.edu/tutor/jscript.html, so it appears to be AboutUs specific. Javascript works fine for me in Firefox. -- TakKendrick | talk
15:31, 19 March 2008 (PDT)
- So, some Javascript works for me (the "more links" in the navigation, and my enhanced RC). Other Javascript doesn't work in Safari, like the "flag" menu. This might also be related, but the "double click to edit" preference (which claims to be a Javascript setting in preferences) still doesn't work for me in Safari or Firefox. -- TakKendrick | talk
10:42, 20 March 2008 (PDT)
- The adult-content flags worked for me fine in Safari. However, you are correct, certain javascript preference settings aren't working, like double-click. It looks like this is a javascript problem and not a browser problem. --Vinh Nguyen 11:10, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

edit two rails=too much real estate
I see two problems with the recent redesign, sorry to say. First, pages with YouTube videos (for instance, see The Open Lobby) leave a very narrow margin for any text beside them. Second, on an 800px-wide monitor, the righthand navbar is 100% hidden. I see more people still using 800x600 monitors than you might expect...for instance, that's the default size for all colored iMacs. This is a huge annoyance. I reported it before, but can't find it, and it's still an active bug.
