- In a resounding endorsement of CEC’s research and public advocacy – that Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is not a necessary or viable solution for California's energy needs – a proposal to build a LNG import plant near the South Coast was recently denied. The State Lands Commission and Coastal Commission voted against the application from BHP Billiton, an Australian mining company.
