There's no catch. Really. I'm just a fanboy. I love comic art because it's as close as most of us are likely to ever get to being inside the real artistic process. To me, it's a huge thrill to read a page in a comic, then see the original art that created it. The little nuances -- the bluelines, the wording changes, the reconsidered poses, not to mention the fact that every artist has his/her own peculiarities in terms of work process -- allow you to enjoy the experience on a whole different (and deeper) level.
Sidenote: don't let anyone ever tell you that there's no "real" art in comics. Maybe if you only read mass-market garbage that's true, but think about it: like any artistic endeavor, there's good and there's bad. The analogy is books. There's an awful lot of crap out there, and a surprising amount of it is the stuff that makes the Times Bestsellers list. The fact that lots of people read a work doesn't have anything to do with its artistic value (which isn't to say that something mass-produced can't be good, but that's another issue altogether).
Some of the most beautiful, most thoughtful, most moving (and yes, sometimes funniest) art I've ever seen was in comics. And if you can't say that either you're not reading comics or you're not reading the right ones. Mail me and I'll set you straight.
