ComBBAT, Team 21 - Central Florida FIRST Robotics Team
Description
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an organization that was started in 1992 with 28 teams. Now over 20,000 students participate on over 900 teams from around the world! Twenty-Seven competitions are held nationwide.
FIRST's mission is to inspire students to learn more about science and engineering. FIRST also serves as a stepping stone to help students enter college. Over $3 Million dollars in scholarship oppurtunities are available to students.
FIRST introduces a new game for robot's to compete in every January. Teams are given 6 weeks to design, build, and ship a fully functioning robot to perform the tasks involved in the game. Teams then meet with others at competition and are randomly paired with alliance partners, and randomly selected against other teams. In one match one team may be your alliance partner, whereas in the next you may be playing against them. This allows students to become more involved with real-life scenarios of work. Teams interact with others and share ideas and information. This allows students to form "networks" of people with similar interests before they ever even go to college.
