CollegeSports.com cable network for college sports

Title

CSTV.com: #1 in College Sports

Description

In 1993, Bedol and Greenberg co–founded Classic Sports Network, one of the few successful independently owned new cable networks launched in the 1990’s. The network featured ‘classic’ sporting events licensed from virtually all of the major sports organizations in America. It launched in 1994 and, three years later, was sold to ESPN.

In 1999, Chris Bevilacqua approached Bedol and Greenberg – at that time, running Fusient Media Ventures, a New York-based sports and media company -- with an idea for a network featuring all college sports all the time. Bevilacqua brought a background in sports marketing and corporate sponsorship [NBC Sports, The Baseball Network and Nike] as well as extensive relationships with professional leagues, NCAA schools and conferences and major advertisers

The combination of business acumen and operations, cable and sports industry experience and an untapped audience of millions of passionate college sports fans generated the launch of then-National College Sports Network in June, 2002. Renamed College Sports Television then set up headquarters and studio operations at Chelsea Piers and debuted in February, 2003 with a live telecast of a Notre Dame – Connecticut women’s basketball game from the Big East Conference.
