Brief History
A relative newcomer to the New Zealand meat industry, CMP commenced business in September 1994. The company's sheep meat business was established very quickly - made possible by the purchase of a modern existing site near Ashburton.
Another early priority was constructing a beef processing facility on site to process grain-fed cattle from CMP's sister company Five Star Beef. The key design features of this facility ensure the production of consistent quality chilled table cuts.
In November 1997 CMP expanded north, purchasing the Riverlands Blenheim beef operation (now CMP Marlborough). This site, designed primarily for beef, has afforded significant new opportunities in beef and co products processing. Synergies were also created through operating two complementary sites.
