- The Community Mediation Center applies the skills of over 100 professionally trained volunteer mediators to address conflict in local schools, courts, legal services, city government, neighborhoods, families and youth. CMC's services provide a process and a framework for people in conflict to discuss issues respectfully and work to a mutually acceptable outcome. When a judge imposes a decision, often both parties are dissatisfied with the result. In contrast, when participants communicate with each other during mediation, they often create their own 'win-win' solutions. Mediation can help people sustain relationships, examine a divisive issue from both sides, listen and communicate more effectively. We envision community where problems bring people together and conflict leads to deeper understanding.
