Description

In 1984 Citifluor Ltd was launched by City University, London. The products, antifadent (antibleaching) mountant solutions (e.g. AF1 mountant medium) and immersion oils, soon gained acceptance by researchers and those carrying out routine assays using the technique of fluorescence microscopy e.g. immunofluorescence, where the fading of fluorochromes (fluorescent dyes) such as FITC was a problem. The "Citifluor" operation moved to the University of Kent in 1991 following the move of one of the founders of the company to Kent and in 1998 it returned to London to be run by Dr. R. S. Davidson who had overseen the developments in the previous 14 years.

Increasing awareness of environmental and health issues led to the products being tested and subsequently shown to be safe to handle and not having to carry labels such as toxic or irritant.

It has been most rewarding to find that many of our customers of the 1980's are still regularly ordering our products.
