- CHROMagar was founded by Dr. Alain Rambach, an internationally recognized microbiologist and pioneer in the field of chromogenic media for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms. Engaged in genetic engineering research as early as 1974, he developed the first E.coli chromogenic detection media, filing the patent in 1979. Several years later, he invented the Rambach Agar for the detection of Salmonella, now distributed world-wide by one of the world's major pharmaceutical groups.
