A growing Internet-savvy generation of Chinese are turning to the worldwide web to find the news they used to find on the newsstand.
Tens of thousands of websites in the Chinese language are available in the PRC to satisfy that demand. Many of the same publications on sale at the corner shop have online editions. There are also numerous English versions of those websites, too.
Many special interest websites, made in China are aimed mainly at foreigners living and working in the country. We have listed some of those here.

It's an odd fact. The country with the most English language
speakers is China...Yes...China.
Hard to believe, but it's true.
The People's Republic of China has the largest population in the world, at over 1.3 billion people. So it stands to reason that it would also have the largest number of people who speak some English.
In the past few years, the Chinese have have come to see knowing English as a valuable tool. At state schools and private training centers, students struggle to master the language of international business and culture.
Accompanying the rush to learn English, has also come a desire to provide information resources produced in the PRC in English for Chinese and Foreign media consumers.
There is a plethora of English media sources available, many online. However, finding them is not always easy.
The goal of the China Tattler is to make finding news and information free of Western opinion and bias written in English produced in the PRC easier by providing a one stop resource center.
Can't read Chinese? Don't worry. Most of the sites we link to are in English, and many provide translations of their content in different languages.
