We've owned Chihuahuas now for over 15 years. We love the breed dearly and have worked very hard to breed only the very best. The first question that SOOO many people ask us when calling about a pup, is "are these TOY or TEACUP Chihuahuas". Well to answer that question, NO they are not. There is NOOOOO such thing as a TOY or TEACUP Chihuahua. THE CHIHUAHUA ITSELF IS A TOY BREED. Like with the Poodle there IS indeed a toy as well as a standard. With the Chihuahua there is NO such thing..I cannot stress this enough. Many breeders call them that just so they can tell the unknowing buyer that and then charge much more for the pup! Dont be taken in by this. We have had a 3 pound female produce a 6 lb fully grown pup and on the other hand we have had a 6 pound female produce a pup that was 2.5 lbs fully grown. Any breeder that will guarentee the size of the pup is CRAZY. If they will do that, then you must have them put it in writting, because NO ONE can predict the size of a pup not even by the size of the parents ( for example my dad was 6'3", my mom 5'8", i'm only 5'3"!!!). Saw a website where a breeder tells you the size the pup will get to be, then at the very end of their site, says in tiny tiny print that they cant guarentee the size!! If you want a TINY TOY CHI then all you want is the RUNT of the litter. Breeding two 3lbs dogs will NOT guarentee you a 3lb pup!! The reason for this is that there is ONLY one type of Chihuahua, there is NOT three different types like say the Schnauzer. So therefore you cannot guarentee the size of a pup.
