Chicklit is my little brainchild. I love reading, writing, books, and words more than just about anything, and a website devoted to these things is a logical project for me. I never get tired of words. My life revolves around words, books, printed material and reading to an alarming degree.
If there's one thing the Internet forces you to realize, it's that you probably aren't unique (despite what your high school guidance counsellor was paid to tell you). I know there must be hundreds, if not thousands, of women who are just as obsessed as I am; who can't walk through any room of their home without tripping over books, magazines, newspapers, notebooks, and journals; who have their library bar codes memorized (but are wanted in five jurisdictions for unpaid library fines); who, as teenagers, spent their allowances at the bookstore instead of the makeup counter; who have sacrificed untold hours of sleep to squeeze in some more reading and writing.
People sometimes ask me if men are welcome at Chicklit. My standard answer is that any man who feels comfortable in the Chicklit environment is more than likely welcome here. I focused on women and words because that's what I know, that's what I'm interested in, and that's what I feel comfortable with. But it really isn't meant to exclude anyone; it's meant only to give shape to what's in my head, and my heart. It's a launchpad, a starting point.
