Cherchies Ltd. was founded in 1978 by Diantha Nason, a nurse at Bryn Mawr Hospital, in Pennsylvania. During the holiday season she cooked a smooth, hot/sweet Champagne Mustard from a recipe concocted by her Pennsylvania Dutch grandmother years earlier, and gave out jars of the mustard as gifts to fellow nurses and doctors.
The taste was so wonderfully unique and met with such raves, that she was convinced to produce enough to sell to local gourmet shops. In short order, the enthusiasm for her Champagne Mustard overwhelmed her to the point where she had to give up nursing to concentrate on her new career. The little business, called Cherchies Ltd., (using Diantha's nickname, "Cherchie", (pronounced chur-chee)), grew rapidly. By 1984 she teamed up with Tony and Patti Spallone, and together with extraordinarily talented employees grew the company to expand from a few products sold primarily in Pennsylvania to over 60 products sold to roughly 6000 accounts throughout the United States. We provide a catalogue for those people who do not live in the vicinity of those stores, and for those who prefer to order by mail. In addition, we offer attractively packaged gift items, not available in stores, but sold only in the catalogue and on this website.
Although Diantha retired several years ago, we are proud of the reputation she helped to establish. We offer products of superior quality, and customer service unmatched in the gourmet food industry. Truly, we are the Champagne of Gourmet Foods.
