Christian Home Educators of Macon, Inc. (CHEM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing supplemental classes to home educated children and to supply additional opportunities for children to learn cooperatively in a Christian environment. It is our belief that children can benefit from varied learning experiences and CHEM is a way to accomplish this objective.
CHEM began in 1997 with three elementary age classes for a handful of students. CHEM now provides more than forty classes for over 200 students. We offer classes on eight Fridays in the spring and fall each year. Classes are available for children 5 year kindergarten through high school while child care is provided for young children of teachers and other workers during classes.
CHEM is coordinated and managed by five homeschool mothers. These women and their responsibilities are: Margaret Ulshafer (Director & Treasurer), Barbara Raines (Asst. Director & Registrar), Tracy Johns (Publications & Facility Liaison) and Andrea Maynard (Worker Coordinator).
