ChatFinder was originally created in 2003 as iChatFinder for Mac users to find others ready to use the Apple's new iChat AV video-chat software. As ChatFinder, it added PC AIM users in 2004 and boasts 50,000 pre-screened members from 110 countries. Members select from over 1,000 unique topics to identify their own interests ranging from Astronomy to Xylophones. ChatFinder will then match your interests to other members' throughout the world and provide contact information. There are no chat rooms or overt adult content. You will simply add the screenname of the other member to your buddy list and contact him/her directly through your iChat or AIM software. In order to maintain its suitability for everyone, ChatFinder incurs substantial administrative costs and a Premium is charged for some features, currently starting at $4.95US paid by credit card or Paypal. You will never receive spam or unwanted contacts as a result of your membership. Chatfinder has been featured in The New York Times and other international publications.
