Doug Cave, the President of Cave Consulting Group, has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He has served as CEO, President, and COO of several healthcare companies including Practice Patterns Science, CareGuide, and LabVelocity.
Doug has worked in the HMO, health insurance, pharmaceutical, and physician-hospital organization industries. He has over 10 years of experience in healthcare consulting to these industries as well as to the large employer, employer coalition, TPA, utilization management, and disease management markets. Recently, Doug has worked with the Pacific Business Group on Health, a large employer group coalition, to help develop a consumer-driven healthcare model that included the identification of efficient and quality practitioners.
In 1995, Doug founded Practice Patterns Science, a healthcare information technology company. As CEO and a member of the Board of Directors for five years, he was instrumental in setting the company's vision and executing growth strategies. The company developed and applied software for practitioner efficiency analysis, patient and disease management, and outcomes analysis. Clients included many large health plans, including Harvard Pilgrim, Allina Medica, BlueCross/BlueShield of Missouri, and Humana Health Plans. The company also worked with most large pharmaceutical companies in the areas of product marketing, pharmacoeconomic research, and clinical trials. Practice Patterns Science was sold to Express Scripts in late 1999.
