CATTA - Child Abuse Training and Technical Assistance
Description
About Us
The Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) and Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES), Law Enforcement and Victim Services Division, Children's Section fund two training centers: The Northern and Southern California Child Abuse Training and Technical Assistance (CATTA) Centers. The aim of the collaboration between OCAP, OES (formerly the Office of Criminal Justice Planning) and the two CATTA Centers is to ensure that every child and family in California has access to state-of-the-art prevention, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and prosecution of child maltreatment.
CATTA provides training and technical assistance to child abuse prevention councils; multi-disciplinary interview centers or teams; child abuse prevention, intervention and treatment service providers; community-based family resource and support centers; family preservation programs; and the State Children's Trust Fund projects. CATTA has established and supports eight Regional Resource Consortiums to build the capacity of the local communities to address issues of child maltreatment.
The northern 48 California counties are served by the Northern CATTA Center at the California Institute on Human Services at Sonoma State University.
