Catskill Rural AIDS Services
Description
(1) Providing support services that enhance the quality of life for people living with AIDS, both infected and affected, particularly focused on reducing isolation for those living in remote rural communities. This program includes a variety of services including congregate meals, outings, professionally facilitated support groups, workshops, transportation, emergency funds, food bank, and partial internet and pet support.
(2) Providing community education and information that seeks to slow the transmission of HIV and to reduce unwarranted fears about AIDS. A community educated about AIDS will treat those who have HIV/AIDS more compassionately. Education is provided through public service announcements, workshops, and presentations in schools and civic groups, our web page and via our toll-free AIDS Hotline.
Catskill Rural AIDS Services (CRAS) is an independent volunteer organization serving the Delaware and Otsego County area in central New York.
