==Additional Information== Casa Laguna is a true example of Mission Revival splendor. Built with materials gathered from around the world yet crafted to reflect its surrounding culture Casa Laguna is one of Laguna Beach's historic gems. Surrounded by lush gardens it's exterior belies what lies behind the beautiful facade.

Currently a bed & breakfast the structure was originally built as a residence for employees and relatives of Frank Miller. Mr. Miller was a U.S. Ambassador to the Far East, who after moving to California's Inland Empire around 1885 built the now famous Mission Inn in Riverside. While exploring farming options in Laguna Beach Mr. Miller built Villa Rockledge, which sits on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway directly across from Casa Laguna, in 1919. The current owner of Casa Laguna says "(Casa Laguna was built) using material left over fromt he construction of the Mission Inn in Riverside."

The estate sits approximately a mile and half south of Laguna's Main beach on approximately an acre. It is believed that the "Mission House" was built as a residence for Mr. Miller's sister or sister-in-law. In 1931 Miller added the "Cottage", which was probably a residence for a service person living on the estate. Three additional bungalows were built on west side of Casa Laguna to accommodate the extended family. These were completed in the 1930's. When Pacific Coast Highway was built the estate was split. The buildings on the inland side became know as Casa Laguna, now separated from Villa Rockledge.

The current owner of Casa Laguna made it his mission to restore the buildings to the former glory. The exterior of the buildings were stripped of double-digit coats of paint exposing the unique bricks used in it's construction. As much as possible non-authentic materials (aluminum windows) were replaced with more appropriate fixtures. The unique features of the buildings are a result of the use of materials Mr. Miller accumulated during his travels and used in the construction of his estates. The Cottage was constructed of Simon brick and mortar and at one time boasted a stained-glass window collected from a building damaged int eh 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The buildings are also adorned with authentic tiles from the Catalina Tile Company. Francois Leclair, who currently owns Casa Laguna and established it as a bed & breakfast in 2000 (Casa Laguna Inn & Spa), says "There is a cross on the eastern end of the ridge of the Mission House roof and there are mosaics and other adornments on the buildings featuring the Madonna and Child and other biblical scenes." In keeping with the artist's theme the new owner used tiles featuring musicians for the room numbers.
