Description
I've always loved creating. It's a large part of who I am. When I was small I created mud dolls from the dirt in my backyard. Fabric from Grandma's box of quilt scraps became "designer Barbie clothes". I learned to sew at age 11 thanks to my mom, a talented seamstress. Art was always my favorite subject in school.
I graduated from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Home Economics Degree. In 1991 I began C J Braun Productions, a craft pattern company. My dolls and doll patterns were sold through national magazines, Country Sampler and Country Folk Art. Two of my soft sculpture animals, "Miss Prissy Pig" and "Miss Beatrice Bovinity" were featured in two separate 1994 calendars published by Waldenbooks Longfellow Press.
In 1994 I began sculpting in clay. It is a true joy to create with my hands a "tiny human being" with a personality all it's own. Santa Making combines many of the things I love, sculpting, sewing, decorating, and Christmas. The Contemporary Doll Collector's 2000 Christmas Dreams Section featured my one-of-a- kind Santa. Creating Santas for others to decorate their homes and enjoy for years to come is a privilege and I thank collectors for letting my Santas become a part of their holiday celebrations.
