The original Carinya Nursing Home was a 63 bed high level aged care facility built and managed by Mr Laurie Basire 36 years ago at 41 Bristol Avenue, Bicton.
Located south of the river in a quiet, leafy residential area Carinya nursing home earned an enviable reputation in the aged care industry for providing effective, sensitive and ethical care giving.
With important changes in the aged care industry taking place in 1997 and in order to meet the new standards in aged care, Mr Basire purchased the nearby Bicton private hospital and after extensive renovation and refurbishment the new Carinya of Bicton opened in June 1998.
