Canoe Ontario

Canoe Ontario is a collective voice for canoeing in Ontario, which promotes the interests and supports the activities of its Affiliates. It is also the Provincial Sport Organization for canoe/kayak in Ontario, dealing with the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation (MTR) on matters related to the sport. Canoe Ontario was established in 1974 and incorporated in June 1977.

Canoe Ontario has no direct relationship with the Canadian Canoe Association, but all three affiliates are part of CCA (OCSRA indirectly through the two CCA divisions in Ontario).

Each of the affiliations plans and executes its own programs in the areas of Athlete, Coach, Volunteer, and Participation development. Canoe Ontario consolidates the affiliate business plans into the form required for MTR submission and allocates grants received to the affiliations. The "administration" component is kept to a minimum.
