We at Capitol Illini pride ourselves on 43 years of service to the Springfield, Chatham, and surrounding communities. Capitol Illini has made itself a part of local history with its original establishment located on North Second Street in Springfield (formerly Garverts Animal Hospital). The original founders of Capitol Illini included Dr. Charles A. Starling and Dr. Joseph L. Brewer in 1962, with later additions of Dr. Melvin Geiger in 1967, and Dr. William H. Wright in 1969. In 1972, a tragic fire destroyed the North Second Street location. This was an appalling and heartbreaking moment in Capitol Illini history as dogs and cats were killed in this tragic event. Working though to further the dream of Capitol Illini, Dr. Starling had concurrently been building a clinic location on 6th and carpenter (presently The Imaging Center).
The present day Wabash location (formerly Victoria Veterinary Clinic) was purchased in 1969 with addition of a newly built Chatham location in 1996. Presently, Dr. William Wright continues ownership along with Dr. Clyde E. Dunphy and Dr. Byron R. McCall. We also recognize Dr. Sean E. Snyder, Dr. Martha M. Armour, and Dr. Kris K. Myers as a part of our professional staff. We are surrounded by a veterinary staff of 25 employees dedicated to continued growth, to better serve and meet the needs of our clientele.
Our goal at Capitol Illini is to provide high quality, compassionate, patient-oriented, veterinary services. We strive to provide the most advanced yet safe, veterinary care to our clients' pets. Our clients are well educated about their pets, which allows them to make the best health decision regarding their pets.
