Title

Cape Otway Centre for Conservation Ecology

Description

Our Location

The Cape Otway Centre lies in the heart of Cape Otway, on the way to the Lighthouse, just off the Great Ocean Road. Our 165 acre property is uniquely positioned to share a boundary with the Otway National Park, allowing the wildlife a safe habitat of more than 12,750 hectares. We are close to Blanket Bay, the Parker River and the Cape Otway Lighthouse. (Click on map for larger image)

While we are remote, we are easily accessible. By road we are: 25 minutes from Apollo Bay, 2 hours from Geelong, 3 hours from Melbourne. Or to reach us by rail, take the train from Spencer St Station in Melbourne, transfer to coach at Geelong and we can arrange for you to be collected at Apollo Bay.

The Environment

Our region includes many different ecosystems, from coastal heathlands to marine environments; from dry sclerophyll woodland to temperate rainforest. These areas support a diverse range of species, many of which are unique to the area. The location and remoteness of our property make us an ideal site for soft release of the animals which have come into our care.
