Cal State 9 Credit Union's Mission is to provide our members a full range of value-added, competitively priced financial products and services by becoming their preferred financial institution and by helping members achieve their lifetime financial goals.
Credit unions were formed to serve the financial needs of people with a common bond based on employment, association, or community. They were established not for profit, not for charity, but for service. As financial cooperatives, credit unions are owned and controlled by their members. Whereas banks turn profits over to stockholders, credit unions return surplus earnings to our members with higher deposit rates, lower loan rates, and fewer & lower fees.
Cal State 9 Credit Union began in 1948 when five University of California employees initially deposited $5 each and were granted the 9th California State Employees Credit Union charter. Cal State 9 now has assets exceeding $347 million with over 25,000 members taking advantage of our full range of financial products and services.
