Description
The business was started in 1986 by Joan Stainthorpe. Our first venture into the sugarcraft industry was to buy a sugarcraft shop, Sugar & Spice, which Joan ran for 15 years and from this came our cake manufacturing business. Joan realised that as well as marzipan, boards and decorations, you need a cake to put them on and so we began making fruit cakes originally for our own shop. We then began to sell to other sugarcraft shops and our first retail outlet was Decor Cake in Liverpool. Since then we have moved bakery three times to cope with the demand for our fruit cakes and we now operate from a 3500 square foot bakery and our customer base has grown to over 200 customers. Both our children work with us along with their partners. Joan and her husband Alec are still very active in the business.
