The Cairo Rotary Club is a service club. It is a local organization directly affiliated with Rotary International, which has over a million members in clubs throughout the world. "Service above Self" is the motto of Rotary International, and it demonstrates the reason for the existence of Rotary clubs, which is to serve others. Rotary clubs are not religious or political organizations, nor are they affiliated with any one industry or profession.
In fact, the design of a Rotary club, as set forth by Rotary International, causes each local club to seek broad representation of leaders from as many businesses, industries, professions, and callings from across the community as possible. In Rotary members from such various occupations meet together for the exchange of information, for friendship and fellowship, and for combining their strength and resources to do local service projects and contribute to nationwide and worldwide efforts that make a difference in the lives of others.
