Title

United Cerebral Palsy of Metropolitan Dallas

Description

Anniversary in 2003. During its anniversary year, through monthly tours of the UCP Center on Harry Hines Boulevard, speaking engagements to civic organizations and health fairs, three videos, and its own high-profile events, UCP Dallas informed more than 11,000 people about cerebral palsy.

Since it was established in 1953, United Cerebral Palsy of Metropolitan Dallas, Inc. has been dedicated to giving care to persons with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. More than 65 percent of individuals served by UCP have disabilities other than cerebral palsy. Nationally, UCP is one of the largest health charities in the country. As an organization larger than the American Heart Association, Easter Seals and the American Cancer Society, we have the best service-to-income ratio, with a system-wide average of 84% of all revenues going to programs that serve 30,000 individuals with disabilities and their families every day.

Here in Dallas, where UCP established one of its first affiliate organizations five decades ago, we help children, youth and adults with CP and other disabilities develop greater independence in their lives. During 2004 UCP Dallas therapists, teachers and other caregivers logged more than 600,000 hours and traveled 80,000 miles to assist 5,133 clients in Dallas County and the surrounding area.
