Buskins is an importer, retailer and distributor of soft-sole leather and suede baby shoes. Most Buskins shoes are designed with soft leather soles to allow a baby's feet to develop naturally while learning to walk or crawl. Buskins also provides a line of traditional, rubber-soled shoes and sandals.
The company was founded by the mother of two children after she had trouble finding soft-soled, non-skid shoes in local shoe stores. She put socks on her children to protect them from the cold floors but they would slip and fall. She put hard-soled shoes on her babies' feet, and they would trip. Also, the hard soles did not let the children's foot and ankle muscles develop properly. Buskins, with their non-skid, glove leather sole was the perfect solution. They also had the added benefit of being very difficult to remove.
