Bullock admits a sincere belief that Ontario's indigenous northern white pine is the preferred building species. A premium species has a premium price tag but after research and experience with a variety of species, Bullock is convinced that his choice is right.
Bullock says, "We know that wood will shrink. What is important is to know exactly how the species will react to shrinkage". His love for pine as the superior building log does not preclude his artistic use of specialty timbers. A customer may choose a unique species to be incorporated into truss work or a roof member.
