we were first introduced to bullmastiffs in 1992 and purchased our first two bullmastiffs in 1994. we required a dog that would make a suitable guard but most importantly they had to be reliable with children. they proved to be suitable at both. at this stage we had no interest in showing or breeding. but we both enjoyed dogs and owned several different breeds combined including bullterriers, Dobermans, border collies, golden retrievers, German Shepard's, fox terriers and many others but were never quite as taken until we owned our very first bullmastiffs. in 1996 after much consideration we bred our first litter and produced our first In Show awarded champion potega marshall.
in the same year we also decided to show (CH:Potega Marshalls father) duke who was also very successful in his first show taking runner up in group six he went on winning many awards and also became a champion along with his son. we were taken hook line and sinker. over a period of eleven years our kennel has grown considerably making up many more champions nationally and internationally including a grand champion. as well as taking in show awards at specialty shows in victoria and new south wales under international judges and breeders of bullmastiffs including lyn pratt (uk) virginia rowland's of blackslate kennels (usa) and bach bocsh (finland). steelmaz bullmastiffs was the only kennel to take two in show awards at the prestigious first national bullmastiff show in 1999 ruby was also awarded 1st in the puppy sweepstakes. Bullmastiffs of Steelmaz has also produced Best In Show and In Show awarded Bullmastiffs at all breeds level Nationally and internationally.
Breeding and showing Bullmastiffs was not a decision that was made lightly. We have based our success on many factors. Understanding the breed, patients, finance and also placing high standards on what we expect from a breeding and show dog including health, temperament, structure, character and ability. All of our litters are well planed with a knowledge of over four to five generations of our dogs lines. Anyone can breed a litter of puppies but it has been our record of producing quality Best In Show, In Show and Champion Bullmastiffs for the previous 11 consecutive years that has been our proof of not only our passion and dedication but our understanding of this breed the "Bullmastiff". And now our lines are being exhibited and bred world wide and producing In Show awarded Bullmastiffs and Champions. We are lovingly owned by 20 Bullmastiffs of varying ages, but we choose to only breed two to sometimes three litters a year as we stake importance on puppies raised by Steelmaz and give our guarantee that all of our puppies are genuinely raised in a loving family environment.
