Perhaps you don't have the cash to spend a year abroad in Holland learning the intricacies of the Dutch tongue, but with BuddySchool and the magic of the web you can connect with a native speaker in Amsterdam or Maastricht or Groninga, (and the list goes on) right from the comfort of your living room.
If you're a teacher, post your info with BuddySchool, including your expertise, pricing, availability and contact details (e.g. if you use Skype, MSN, etc.). Students can then browse through the categories and find your ad. A lesson request is submitted specifying date, time, and price. Teacher's may reject or accept lessons as befits their schedules. Officially scheduled lessons are placed on both student and teacher's calendars.
The actual lesson takes place using any IM or VoIP client that both parties are comfortable with. BuddySchool's features include calendars which figure out time zone differences automatically, personal space for lesson info, and payment tracking. Users can import their GCal and Outlook info as well.
For the moment, BuddySchool is a free service for both teachers and students.
