BroadwayTheatreProject.com is presenting a venue for aspiring student performers.

Open to high school and college students, the program undertakes a comprehensive audition process to determine admissions for its annual three-week summer intensive course. In addition to live auditions, which are held throughout the United States during the first three months of the year, Broadway Theatre Project accepts recorded auditions that highlight the candidate’s range and skills.

Recognized by Playbill as the “world’s most prestigious musical theatre arts education program for high school and college students,” Broadway Theatre Program accepts approximately 200 student musical performers into its residential summer program each year. A faculty of 50 highly trained professionals oversees the course, which is held at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The 23-year-old program provides ongoing education and assistance for students via specific training initiatives in the areas of the arts and life skills.

Artistic Director and President Debra McWaters established Broadway Theatre Project to realize her vision of an inspirational environment in which to encourage and mentor young talent. To optimize the students’ experience, she also brings in such well-known actors as Ben Vereen, who served as Co-Artistic Director in 2012, and dancer Darren Gibson, who will serve as Co-Artistic Director for the 2013 season. The depth of the faculty’s capabilities ensures that students are introduced to new ideas, methods, and styles that advance their musical theater skills.

For students between the ages of 12 and 15, Broadway Theatre Project hosts BTP II, a weeklong day program that includes acting, dancing, and singing. Members of the faculty also travel throughout the country to instruct BTP II programs. For more information, visit BroadwayTheatreProject.com.
