The Brazelton Institute - Children's Hospital Boston

Description

The Brazelton Institute is dedicated to promoting the healthy development of infants and families, through research and education programs for people who care for children and their families in the first years of life. The Institute is based in the Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital in Boston, which is an affiliate of the Harvard Medical School.

pioneering work with infants and families and based on more that 25 years of research and clinical practice, the Institute has as its goal the development of innovative service delivery models that target the changing health needs of children and families in today's society.

The work of the Brazelton Institute is based on the assumption that parents and families have the central and primary role in ensuring the health and well-being of their children. However, we believe that doctors, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, infancy and early intervention specialists, therapists, social workers and other allied health and education professionals in the community, are significant partners in providing services to parents. The Institute is committed to promoting and conducting research and training to ensure that the information offered to professionals and parents is reliable and trustworthy.

Peggy Burch's Comments on Brazelton-Institute.com

  • Peggy Burch (frustrated) : Tonight I came out of an NBA game in Memphis, TN., at a sports complex called FedExForum in a busy downtown entertainment district called Beale Street, and saw something I had never seen there: Pets. There were two large, fluffy yellow cats who were clearly lost and shocked at their surroundings. We saw one of them run under a car and miraculously survive, but I'm sure by now that animal is dead. Actually I hope it is, since it obviously has no skills to survive in urban alleys. And thanks to Brazelton -- I can't type the respectful "Dr." -- suddenly it needs them. We had already passed some people looking under an ornamental bush at what I now feel sure was another cat, which had already been hit by a car and was trying to hide. These animals were clearly pets that had been dumped, and I knew immediately that it was the result of the astonishingly ignorant column Brazelton wrote about cats killing babies. Does no one read these columns to make sure ridiculous nonsense isn't simply dumped into newspapers? Everyone at your absurd "institute" should be ashamed of repeating that old wives' tale.
