What (summary)

A smooth way of retrieving, organizing, and publishing the photos I take.

Why this is important

I take a lot of photos that people would like easy access to. This includes myself, but also others who I've taken the photos of.

DoneDone

  • All photos are available on my laptop
  • All photos are available on Shelley's desktop
  • All photos are backed up on quasi-permanent medium (such as DVDs)
  • All photos are backed up on S3
  • Selected photos are made publically available on S3
  • Selected photos are available on Shelley's laptop
  • Selected photos are uploaded to AboutUs and other wikis where I might want to use them
  • Tweaking the photos
    • All metainformation provided by the camera is preserved
    • Easy RedEye fixing
    • Lossless rotation of photos ... correct orientation is set in the meta-data of the photo
  • Plug and play on my laptop ... gets at least to the point where the photos have been stored on my laptop and queued for synchronization with other services and computers
